When thinking of Yoga a few words come to mind: peaceful, calm, safe. Having played quite a few aggressive sports in the past I’ve had my share of injuries. Deciding to take up Yoga felt like such a good choice for my body, not only for all of the benefits of Yoga for your body and mind but also for the fact that I wouldn’t sustain injuries along the way.
I was SO wrong! Down in plank the incredibly flexible pro teacher on the screen brings her left leg through to between her hands. I’ve done this a few times by now, so I’m not expecting anything different. Never has my foot reached all the way to between my hands, but today I must have been feeling extra heavy or the gap between my body and mat wasn’t as big. Half way up my big toe hits the mat, my leg carries forward and my toe is bent over and twisted! Instead of 30 mins practice it ended after 15, my toe throbbed for hours! Of course this has got me thinking, what injuries have others had while doing yoga?
