Since starting this blog I have been sharing snippets of my Yoga journey on Instagram. Why – for self accountability and motivation! I also just started a Facebook page for the purpose of creating a community feel where people can connect and reach out to each other for support, motivation, inspiration, guidance, and advice.
Once I got the page going I did some more research (I tend to rush into things and am so impatient!) I then realized a Facebook group is going to be the way to go. Anyone can share direct to the closed group meaning people can feel comfortable sharing information knowing it stays within the group. I’ll take the opportunity again now to say thanks to my yoga friends for being so kind to accept the offer into the group so far. . . some are maybe just too kind not to. 🙂
Already I love the feel of the group and can see the potential with it. I am hoping to see people connecting no matter where they are on their Yoga journey, and from the connections feeling more inspired or informed. For me
The most important reason to do Yoga is to feel and be the best you can be. Then you can act to your full potential to do good in the world”.. So just think, the more people feeling the best they can then the better the world is around them.
So far my favorite social media moments have been in the last day when two separate people have told me they’ve started their Yoga Journey as a result of the pages I have created. How cool is that! They are excited and inspired which is amazing to hear, and it makes all of this totally worth it!
One of the thoughts I’ve had floating around while reaching out to people is how nervous I was to start Yoga on my own.
What if I can’t do it, what if I embarrass myself by not following what they are doing, what do I wear, do I need to know the names of poses, should I already have the basics in place, what if I have to go by myself or end up at the front of the class.
SO many thoughts that had put me off going to Yoga and missing out on a few extra years of enjoyment. If these pages or group can help people who feel like I did then that is going to be the icing on the cake!
I feel the need/want to keep on learning and practicing which is emphasized by my accountability to my followers. But even better is the support I and others are receiving, and also seeing people making connections and enjoying their Yoga journey together.
If you want to join the group – I totally recommend you do 😉 Search in Facebook for ‘Our Yoga Tribe NZ’ and hit ‘Join’.
Mini Update on day 70! – If you have ever suffered back pain Yoga can do wonders! I have been coming across so many stories of people who have suffered back pain for years which has been cured as a result of doing Yoga. For myself, I had a stiff neck and back for 4 months, to the point I found it hard to get up in the mornings and couldn’t move all night. I am now on day 70 of doing Yoga each day and have NO BACK PAIN at all and my neck can move like it is supposed to!!
The amount of clicking my body does during the day is making me sound like bubble wrap, yet it feels good. I have little clicks and movements mostly all down my back, legs and ankles, I’m sure it is only a good thing, as if there is more flexibility and freedom in my body. I have finished 30 days of Yoga with Adriene and have started her #YogaRevoloution episodes. Not sure what I did but have somehow pulled muscles in my chest, baby cobra maybe?!? Maybe I’ll check in on the group and see if anyone else has managed to do that!
See you there xx
